Item description

Pair of oil paintings on canvas dating back to the 19th century. The 2 large paintings depict scenes from the life of groups of Franciscan monks. In the first painting a group of monks is depicted inside a monastery while in the second the monks are depicted inside a cave. Both paintings are signed, although the signature remains to be deciphered and they were made by the same painter. In fact, the canvases appear to have been reframed, the frames appear to be more recent and, like the frames, I would say that they date back to the 1940s/50s. The canvases measure 103 x 79 cm The frames measure 11 x 88 cm
