Painting by the Turin painter Guido De Bonis (Turin 1931 - Brive La Gaillarde 2013).
Founder, together with other artists such as Italo Cremona, Molinari, Camerini and his partner Dionisia Goss of an artistic movement called SURFANTA in opposition to the neo-avant-garde.
The painting for sale is dated 1954, De Bonis painted it at the age of 23 perhaps, during one of his first trips to France.
I like to think that the painter was fascinated by the Parisian nightlife still animated by a faint trace of what was the Belle Epoque but, at the same time, surprised and amazed by its oddities or at least those that might have seemed strange to a boy from Turin who found himself immersed in the nocturnal Paris of the 1950s.
Dazed faces and unknown bodies that meet in the light of the street lamps and transport us into a real but fantastic, hallucinated and surreal world.
In the following years, De Bonis returned to France many times, toured the world, and was remembered as a man who enjoyed life, a great drinker and a tireless smoker, but he abandoned himself to fantastic worlds, seabeds and enchanted forests in his paintings and his art.
The painting for sale, which represents the impressions of a young De bonis, remains one of a kind, different from the artist's other subsequent works.
The canvas measures 125 x 54 cm.
