Mahogany round table with Emperador dark marble top. The solid square base with round legs supports a solid mahogany column with a refined and slender pod work. At the top of the column is fixed a sturdy cross that allows supporting the heavy marble top with a lot of stability. The material used for the realization of the table is a beautiful quality of mahogany. The careful workmanship and the handmade polishing have brought out the veins and the colors of this precious wood. The top was cut from one big piece of Emperador Dark marble (this marble, extracted from quarries in southern Spain, ideal for luxury settings, known since ancient times with its personality and elegance, has enriched for thousands of years houses and palaces of all ages and styles). The table was made by skilled cabinetmakers in France between 1824 and 1830, under the reign of Charles X, during which the style of the furniture changed radically, as to better emphasize the changing social climate, which wants to erase any historical memory related to Bonapartists. In the new style, there is a gradual tendency to soften the shapes, which in short leads to a resurgence of soft, curved lines. The search for comfort and functionality is preferred to the grandiose rhetoric of Empire furnishings. Inspired by cabinetmakers of the time such as Jacob-Desmalter, Bellangé, Lemarchand, Remond, Werner and Puteaux, the craftsmen who worked on this table were able to create an extraordinary piece of furniture, refined and fascinating, which by virtue of its extreme elegance and its soft romantic line, make it extremely versatile and easy to place in any environment.
