Painting mid-19th century, oil on canvas. The subject of the painting is an unknown French nobleman, dressed in an elegant and sober suit. The look expresses security and stateliness, severity and pride, he must surely have been a singular and aristocratic character and the artist, in his work, interpreted with sensitivity all the inner and human characteristics. We are not able to give any news about the author, but we confirm his extraordinary aesthetics and ability. Performed in France between 1850 and 1855. The gilded wooden frame is of the period, it is very linear and of good proportions to enhance a portrait. The painting is of beautiful size and pleasant impact, excellent workmanship and entirely in its original state. It presents some inevitable signs of time (see photo), but these signs testify to its authenticity and make it even more fascinating and engaging, on the whole, a work ready to hang.
