Item description

17th century painting depicting the VI Station of the Cross - Veronica wipes the face of Christ. The painting came to us after a restoration probably carried out at the end of the 19th century, a restoration in which the original, probably deteriorated, canvas was lined with the canvas that can now be seen on the back of the painting. The well-executed pictorial reconstructions of the missing parts mainly concern the lower part of the painting, the foot and a portion of Christ's robe and part of Veronica's robes as can be clearly seen from the photos. Canvas measures 71 x 55 cm
