Ancient folding table in mahogany and oak wood, of English manufacture.
It certainly dates back to the end of the 18th century, in the style of Robert Adam, inventor of the English classical revival of the last 40 years of the 18th century.
The piece of furniture, of excellent workmanship, is structured in a very particular way.
The inverted pyramid legs support a massive structure made of solid English oak wood.
In the lower part a large drawer is surmounted by a flap which is located under 2 small drawers and a fake drawer front which hides a secret which can be accessed from the flap.
At the top of the cabinet there is a folding door that hides a leather-upholstered desk top, letter holders, 4 drawers and in the central part a retractable shelf that hides a secret compartment.
In excellent condition, it has no defects and a professional anti-woodworm treatment has been carried out.
The furniture is sold ready for use
The quality of the furniture is very high, it is not a standard piece of furniture but was certainly built by a commissioned furniture craftsman.
The back and bottom of the drawers are in solid oak with jointed boards and the structure is very solid.
The mahogany veneered front part is enriched by beautiful bronze friezes under the handles.
