Danish 1960s chest of drawers in beech and teak, produced by Karl Andersson & Söner, with sculpted cone handles.
Danish chest of drawers designed by Børge Mogensen and produced by Karl Andersson & Söner, made of beech with teak fronts. The contrast between the clear essentiality of the structure and the warm depth of the drawers underlines the rational and material approach of the project. The design is massive and classic, with compact volumes and a full base that gives visual stability and a sense of solidity. The cone-shaped handles, turned directly into the wood, emerge as small plastic elements. Børge Mogensen was one of the main exponents of post-war Danish modernism. Trained at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts and collaborator of Kaare Klint, he developed a concept of design based on functionality, proportion and durability over time. For Mogensen, furniture had to be democratic, solid and designed for everyday life.
