Description: Pair of ancient oil on canvas paintings depicting religious scenes within contemporary wooden frames. In one the scene depicts Our Lady of Sorrows with her face turned upwards with an intense expression of pain and contemplation suggesting a moment of profound spiritual suffering. The cross behind the Virgin symbolizes the crucifixion of Christ and a crown of thorns hangs on it, reinforcing the reference to the Passion. Two angels flank Mary, one on the left dressed in red and green shades indicating the cross and the other on the right dressed in a white cloth indicating Mary. Mary holds a white cloth in her hands, symbolizing tears and mourning. The other painting depicts the Guardian Angel protecting and guiding a child in a dangerous situation. The Angel with large spread wings and flowing robe dominates the scene from above while the child is placed lower down and appears to be helped or lifted as he walks over unstable ground.
