Title: The Signs of the Wind. 1981
The work of Ignazio Moncada (Palermo, 1932 - Milan, 2012) permeated Italian art in the second half of the twentieth century, favoring the feeling of colour. A pioneer of pictorial research attentive to the legacy of the avant-garde, from Futurism to constructivist-inspired abstraction, Moncada thus developed some of the principles of Italian abstract painting of the 1950s and 1960s - the geometric component, the importance of the sign, the relationship between work and space - in the direction of an original musicality of formal invention punctuated by colour.
