Magnificent oil on panel, Rodolfo Marma (1923-1998), Sisters in Piazza Santo Spirito. Dimensions: 30 x 20 cm - with frame: 45 x 36 cm. Rodolfo Marma was born in 1923 in the Santa Croce district of Florence, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Ugo Capocchini, graduating in 1948. At the same time, he attended Emanuele Cavalli's studio.
In 1954 Marisa, the only and beloved daughter of Rodolfo Marma and Geraldine, was born in Florence.
From 1956 to 1958, he lived and worked in New York, returning several times. Particularly noteworthy is his correspondence from those years spent in America, which testifies to his love and nostalgia for his hometown, as well as the letters he exchanged with friends Vasco Pratolini, Primo Conti, and his young daughter.
In the United States, "the generous land of the Americas", a day, "Marma Day", was dedicated to him in 1965, while between 1967 and 1972 he devoted himself mainly to his exhibitions in Florence.
Marma was also a reader and illustrator, particularly for works such as *The Knight's Garden* by Mario Mattolini (Mori, Florence, 1963) and *When Florence Was Capital* by Marcello Vannucci (Bonechi, 1970).
