Neo-Renaissance (or "cassette") frame, made in Italy between the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
This frame is carved wood and gilded with pure gold leaf. It features a central band decorated with Greek motifs or blue and black flowers on a gold background, embellished with fluted or twisted edges.
Usage: Originally conceived as a frame for classical paintings and as a decorative wall mirror.
Tuscan manufacture, late 19th century.
