Antique travel suitcase produced by Franzi 1864 of Milan and dating back to the 1920s/30s.
This lego trunk covered in green leather with metal and brass inserts was made by one of the most luxurious travel accessory factories in Europe.
Between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Franzi was the only factory in the world to have the privilege of being named royal factory of 4 monarchies at the same time, Italy, Greece, Egypt and Austria.
Founded in 1864 by Felice Franzi in the very luxurious Via Manzoni in Milan, the factory makes use of French and Austrian artisans and imports the most modern tannery techniques of the time from Germany, creating the first Italian luxury leather goods district.
Winner of the gold medal at the Paris Universal Exposition of 1900, I Franzi opened further stores in Genoa, Rome, Florence, Naples, Turin, London and Vienna, becoming the first manufacturer of luxury travel objects with an international distribution network.
Today Franzi 1864 is still in business.
The suitcase proposed here is made with the best materials of the time, bears the Franzi plate with the historic symbol of the prancing elephant and the factory plate is also present inside.
The interior is equipped with coat hangers and the opening part is divided into compartments and protected by a silk cloth in perfect state of conservation as shown in the photo.
The suitcase has never been restored and comes to us in very good conservative conditions as can be seen from the photos, it shows some completely normal signs of wear and fully compatible with the age of the object.
