This item is an antique 19th-century crucifix/Wall Child, made of Neapolitan silver with unidentified punches. The central cross is made of wood dyed ebony (or dyed black to imitate ebony). The body of Christ, the upper cartouche bearing the inscription "INRI", the ornaments at the ends of the cross (canti), the radiant sun and the lower holy water stoup are made of embossed and cast silver. Beneath Jesus' feet is the classical symbol of the skull and crossed shins, representing Golgotha (the place of the skull) and Christ's victory over death.
