Exquisitely carved antique Chinese ivory figure from the Ming/Quing Dynasty. This highly characterful standing warrior figure has a joyful, expressive smiling face. He dramatically holds his long flowing beard with one hand, while a saber is clearly tucked at his waist. The figure wears traditional Ming official robes with finely carved cloud and floral motifs and the distinctive woven official hat with a finial on top. Provinance: Formerly in a European private collection, purchased mid 20th century on the Austrian antiques market.
