The Venetian painter Vittorio Messori was also a talented portraitist: he painted portraits of the eminent personalities of the Venetian places where he lived and worked.
Here a severe and dignified lady in strict mourning is portrayed, dressed strictly in black although placed on a green background which illuminates her and makes her stand out.
The painting is presented in a contemporary gilded wooden frame.
