Structure in laminated curved beech, originally red lacquered and brought to its natural state through hand paint stripping: the process revealed the stratification of the plywood, with the grain of the overlapping sheets creating an involuntary and unrepeatable chiaroscuro effect. Sled base with curved arch, wraparound armrests.
The paint stripping was carried out by hand, layer by layer, without. The result is not a "clean" wood but one with memory: the traces of the original lacquer remaining in the deepest grains create a faded effect that tells of the passage of time and gives the piece a living, non-standardised surface. A precise aesthetic choice, which enhances what industrial manufacturing tended to hide.
Seat and backrest completely redone with new padding and upholstery in labyrinthine patterned fabric in petrol blue, white and orange profiles - a pattern that recalls the Kuba fabrics of central Africa. The contrast between the light, marked wood and the chromatic pattern of the fabric is the result of a thoughtful intervention, not of a conservative restoration.
Excellent conditions.
