Item description

Oil on canvas. A woman sitting on the side of the road, while breastfeeding a child, breaks a loaf of bread to share it with other children who look at her with a pleading look. The scene has a highly symbolic value, representing the theological virtue of Charity, identified in particular in the work of mercy "feeding the hungry". The scene is located outdoors, in a countryside landscape with rural buildings. It is presented in a gilded frame from the late 19th century.
