Exquisite ivory Murano glass "Fazzoletto" vase with champagne-tone scallop handcrafted in Murano, Italy. This piece features the iconic draped fabric silhouette that has made Venetian glass famous around the world. A masterpiece of mid-century Italian art. The deep brownish hue is accentuated by a brilliant iridescent finish, which reflects light with a jewel-like depth. The "Fazzoletto" silhouette is perhaps the most iconic shape of Venetian glassware. To achieve this organic, curled edge requires immense skill: the glassblower must manipulate the molten glass with centrifugal force and gravity to "pull" the material into its characteristic soft, bendable appearance. No two pieces are ever identical, which makes this work of functional sculpture one of a kind. It is new so in excellent condition.
