The elegant "4D" dining table, designed by Angelo Mangiarotti and produced by Molteni, is part of the celebrated 4D series, originally designed by Mangiarotti in 1966 and subsequently added to the Molteni catalog.
The table features an extremely simple structure, characterized by four slanted, architecturally shaped legs and a rectangular wooden top composed of two elements that allow for a central opening.
Once extended, the top extends from 144 to 192 cm, maintaining a depth of 96 cm.
The design is particularly representative of Mangiarotti's research into the assembly and construction of elements, where structure, function, and form coincide.
The 4D series was born from the idea of finished, interchangeable, and easily assembled elements, with distinctive corner details that become both structural and aesthetic elements.
The dark wood finish and clean proportions give the table a typically Italian modernist aesthetic, with a strong architectural and rationalist component, perfectly in line with Italian design of the 1960s and 1970s.
The table shows normal signs of wear due to age and use.
