Carved wooden mask from the artistic and ethnographic tradition of West Africa, featuring stylistic characteristics typical of the Baule (or Yaouré/Senufo) ethnic group of Côte d'Ivoire. The upper part is surmounted by a finely carved headdress in relief, engraved with dense grooves simulating braids or a traditional hairstyle, often associated with personal prestige and ideal beauty in Baule culture. Geometric diamond-shaped reliefs appear on the forehead (three arranged horizontally and one lower central), representing ritual scarification motifs, a symbol of social status, ethnic identity, and the passage to adulthood. In Baule culture, anthropomorphic masks of this type commonly fall into the category of Goli masks or entertainment/portrait masks (Ndomba or Mblo). Made of wood. Dimensions: height 50 cm, width 21 cm, depth 12 cm. Very good condition.
