Item description

Etching. The engraving is based on a painting (now considered lost) by Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), on whom Vorsterman collaborated for several years. In the lower margin is a dedication in Latin addressed to the Dutch poet Anna Roemer Visscher. The scene depicted recounts a biblical episode frequently depicted in art. The print is presented in a 19th-century frame.
