Delightful portrait of a woman with a hat, last quarter of the 19th century. The predominant black is presumably chosen to bring out the coral red of the background, which lights up and illuminates. The silhouette of the figure then emerges, standing out forcefully. The painting is somehow already modern, more synthetic than in the past: it means that the new century and modernity are just around the corner! Ready to hang, the painting has already been completely cleaned.
