PLATINUM Seller in Milano, Italy
Veronese flap cabinet from the mid-18th century. Made of spruce with walnut-root veneer and maple and cypress fillets. On the front there are three drawers moved by a leaf spring, surmounted by a flap door that hides a chest of six drawers, of which the side ones give access to secrets hidden by the moved uprights. In the top of the flap there is a sliding door that hides another secret underneath. Two further small drawers are located in the side uprights. On the flap, within a reserve, there is a maple inlay of plant volutes with two parrots. The wrought iron locks are engraved on the back with a lozenge motif; the door lock has been replaced.
