Splendid Napoleon III secrétaire of fine French manufacture from the second half of the 19th century, made with rosewood and rosewood veneer, decorated with high-quality gilded and chiseled bronzes and complete with a white marble top.
The piece of furniture features an elegant, wavy and sinuous structure, with rounded sides and fronts, typical of the Louis XV style revisited during the Napoleon III era.
The front is punctuated by seven drawers, three of which conceal a folding secrétaire, which opens to reveal a light wood (maple) interior with two central drawers, an upper shelf, and a writing space covered in red leather.
The gilded bronze appliques — depicting winged cherub heads, stylised lilies, foliage, and rocaille decorations — enrich the corners, edges and bases, giving the piece great refinement and balance.
The shaped white marble top elegantly completes the top.
