Pair of Cesca chairs from the 1960s. The B 32 chair, designed by the Hungarian designer and architect Marcel Breuer (1902-1981), famous as the "Cesca chair" from the name of the author's adopted daughter, is the most popular model of cantilever chair. It is made of chrome-plated steel tubes, lacquered wood, curved wood and tanned wood. It went into production in 1929 and is still produced today. Marcel Breuer is one of the most famous exponents of the Bauhaus school of German art and design, one of the first to complete his studies under Walter Gropius and to become teacher and director of the carpentry course. Under his direction, from 1925, the workshops began to produce chairs and tables in tubular steel and to design modern furniture in tubular metal, including his famous chairs both in wood and fabric backrest and in tubular iron with a stuffed backrest, through which Breuer sought ever new expressive solutions.
