Iconic and elegant pair of table lamps in gilded brass, it consists of a cylindrical base half turned while the other half is cast in brass, from the base starts a ribbed tube at the top of which is placed a lamp holder as a single point of light, around the tube, there are three leaves surmounted by three roses, these sumptuous and well-proportioned decorations are made in a perfect and detailed brass casting and then gilded by fire, an enchanting and fabulous set of elegant and flashy decorative effect obtained according to the style "Hollywood Regency". The lamps were made in Paris between 1970 and 1975 by the Maison Jansen, a company emblematic of international luxury style. In 1880, at the height of the Belle Époque, Jean-Henri Jansen emigrated from Holland to open a furniture shop in the Rue Royale in Paris. The Maison Jansen was a success from the start. The shopkeeper was immediately impressed by its sumptuous, detailed windows and its unique approach to selling furniture, so much so that within ten years Maison Jansen was no longer a shop but a rapidly expanding design company with a wealthy and loyal clientele, customers that it would retain for almost a century. It was one of the most famous and influential interior decoration houses of the 20th century, frequented by royal families, high society, national leaders and other luminaries of elite society. It was one of the first truly global design companies, one of the most influential voices of the 20th century, an excellence that helped establish the Jansen style as an undisputed protagonist in design history. The genius of the company lay in its extraordinary ability to retrieve striking shapes, colours and materials from the past. The most sought-after pieces reflected the influence of design from the past, from Louis XIV to Louis XVI, from the Directoire era to imperial influences. In 1929, after Jansen's death, the company continued to expand its world presence under the leadership of Stéfan Boudin, a loyal collaborator of Jansen; Stéphane Boudin was succeeded after his death in 1967 by long-time collaborator and colleague Pierre Delbée whose Parisian residence was world famous as the pinnacle of Jansen's lush aesthetics; he continued to represent the company in its best projects until 1979 when the company changed hands. The business did not last long after his departure and Maison Jansen closed its doors in 1989, more than a century after its foundation. During its activity, Maison Jansen had prestigious customers and commissions: William III of Holland, Alfonso XII of Spain, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, the Rockefellers, Elsie de Wolfe, Nancy Astor's granddaughter Nancy Lancaster, the American millionaire Henry Channon, the Kennedys and Coco Chanel, the restoration of the White House, including the famous Red Room, during John Kennedy's administration, the furnishing of Lady Olive Baillie's Leeds Castle in Kent, England, the interior design of the motor yacht Chambel IV, now renamed Northwind II. The lamps are supplied without lampshades so that everyone can choose their own colour to match their decor. The lamps are in very good condition. The electrical system is new but the wiring is European, voltage compatibility in other states should always be checked by an electrician before use.
