French Charles X secretaires with black marble top, 19th century
French Charles X Secretaires in maple with eyebrows and amaranth grafts. The upper part consists of a goblet that conceals a large open space conceived as an arched compartment resting on six maple-root drawers surrounded by ebony fillets. The top of the cupboard is covered with a layer of leather bordered by an elegant fire-painted frieze. The lower body, much simpler in its construction, is composed of three drawers embellished with an inlay of racemes and leaves. The interior is made of solid oak and still has the original keys and locks of the time, the top is made of black Belgian marble. Provenance: France (1820/30).
