Lombardy-Veneto Louis XVI chest of drawers, 18th century
Lombard-Venetian chest of drawers from the Louis XVI period, entirely veneered and inlaid in precious woods, bronze handles and spouts. The chest of drawers reflects the stylistic motifs of Lombard-Venetian cabinet-making of the second half of the 18th century, with a linear and squared shape supported by four truncated-pyramidal feet ending in satin-finish bronze socks. The cabinet is structured around three large drawers and its development is embellished with fine veneers and inlays of exotic woods. The top and the two fronts feature medallions with mythological figures on the inside, while the front is characterised by a dense inlay of racemes and flowers ending with griffin heads. Circular vents, frames and handles are in finely chiselled bronze. Condition: Restored by our master craftsmen using the traditional method of shellac and artisanal alcohol. Provenance: Lombardy, 18th century. Document: Certificate of authenticity. We are at your disposal for further clarifications or photographic details
