Important oil painting on wood from the beginning of the 20th century signed Luca Postiglione. Portrait of a young woman. MEASURES IN CM with frame 47 x 57
Naples 1876 - 1936
Son of Luigi, he was a prolific painter, a pupil of his father and brother Salvatore. He exhibited at the Promotrice in Naples from 1896 to 1915 (1904, Rimembranze, Testa di donna, Bozzetto; 1906, Interno and Studio). He painted portraits and genre scenes, often inspired by Neapolitan folklore (Ritratto di donna, Pulcinella, Milan, Museo Teatrale alla Scala), with a lively technique marked by post-impressionist results. He alternated this production with painting in duller tones, sometimes characterised by a dense impasto, in the manner of A. Mancini (Lettura, Naples, Banca d'Italia coll.), and sometimes by free, prominent brushstrokes (La madre, Naples, Amministrazione Provinciale). In 1904 he presented Orfana at the Italian Exhibition in London and in 1906 with II giglio (The Lily) and La soglia (The Threshold) at the Società degli Amatori e Cultori in Rome. He also dabbled in fresco painting and in 1890, again in Naples, he and his brother Salvatore took part in the decoration of Caffè Gambrinus and later of Caffè Fortunio in Via Toledo. He was also a talented dialectal poet. We advise you to have a good look at all the attached photos.
