Item description

Antique Italian painting from the 17th century. Oil painting on canvas depicting religious subject St. Jerome by an excellent painterly hand. Beautifully sized painting adorned with a non-coeval 20th century sculpted and gilded frame, structurally sound with some signs of time. Painting of great character, carnal of the finely represented saint (see photo). Work enriched by the presence of the typical images/symbols linked to Saint Jerome such as the lion, the crucifix and the red cloth (see photo). Fabulously dynamic painting, for antique dealers, interior decorators and collectors of antique sacred art. Work that has undergone a conservative restoration, re-tinting, replacement of the frame and restoration of the colour in some points (see photo). Painting in good overall state of preservation. Light painting H 95 x W 67 cm.
