Item description

Old Italian painting from the second half of the 17th century. Oil painting on canvas, first canvas, depicting religious subject Madonna suckling the Child by an excellent painterly hand. Beautifully sized and pleasing painting for antique dealers, interior decorators and collectors of antique sacred art. Virgin with a face of exquisite sweetness and refinement, finely painted robes of various colours with pleasant striped decoration on the Madonna's left arm (see photo). Jesus lying on a white sheet in his mother's arms of excellent quality, note the drops of milk under the child's lips (see photo). A work that has undergone a slight conservative restoration, re-painting in sporadic places and replacement of the frame (see photo). In fabulous patina, it has small colour fades on the borders and two patches on the back (see photo). Given its age, overall in good state of preservation. In need of restoration.
