Item description

Antique Italian painting from the 17th century. Oil painting on canvas depicting religious subject St. Peter the Penitent by a good painterly hand. Painting of beautiful size and great character for antique dealers, interior decorators and collectors of antique sacred art. Non-coeval carved, painted and gilded wooden frame of pleasant decoration. Work that has undergone conservative restoration, re-staining and repainting in several places (see photo). There is a wax lacquer stamp on the back of the painting, glued to the frame, with small missing elements, which must be deciphered. Work in good condition with some signs of restoration. Light painting H 70 x W 58 cm.
