MEASURES WITH FRAME H 54 L 76 without frame 73 x 51 biographical note: Luca Alinari was born on October 27, 1943 in Florence, in the surroundings of Rignano sull'Arno, where he lived and worked until March 2019. Very young, he discovered a passion for painting and, like all children, he draws and paints: but Luca always draws and paints and this passion becomes his favourite way to communicate. After attending the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, at the beginning of his career he worked as a literary critic: he will be editor of magazines and reviewer of fiction texts. Work by Luca AlinariPhoto by Luca AlinariFor some years he worked in the field of written and television communication and in 1979 he founded and directed the art magazine "Signorina Rosina" while actively living within the intellectual and artistic world. His first personal exhibition dates back to 1969 in Florence and since then Luca Alinari is considered an intellectual, very active in the Italian cultural scene, who is interested not only in figurative arts, but a character who has given his contribution to happening events (where art is not the only theme dealt with) and numerous avant-garde theatre pieces. His experiments will anticipate the ideas and ideas of many Italian painting developed between the seventies and eighties, such as the "Nuovi-Nuovi" movement and the "Transavanguardia". After experiences in graphics and other forms of artistic expression, in the eighties he came to the suggestive and fantastic formulation of imaginary landscapes. Luca Alinari soon became one of the most significant authors of contemporary art, the point of connection between the post-Pop Art generation of the 1970s and 1980s and the neo-figurative experimentations of the 1990s". Exhibition by Luca AlinariPhotography by Luca AlinariHis first stylistic references are in fact linked to the "Neodada" current, in adherence to which he uses the most diverse techniques: drawing with the use of fluorescent colors, decals, collage, photographic transpositions. Over the years Luca Alinari has painted on the most varied materials, ranging from fresco to plexiglass, from wood to colored fabric that, fixed on the canvas, allows the artist to obtain very personal colors. His artistic vein has also spanned the Murano glass sculptures, very intense works both in shapes and colours. By now famous and well known Luca Alinari was invited to major artistic events and in 1982 he participated in "Visual Arts '82", Venice Biennale; in 1986 he participated in the XI Quadriennale in Rome. In 1990 he had the honour of painting the "Cencio" for the Palio of Siena. In 1999 the Uffizi Museum acquired a self-portrait of the artist to be included in the famous collection of self-portraits located in the Vasari Corridor in Florence. His works, which constitute the fantastic and fascinating diary of the events of our time, are expressed through a remarkable figurative precision, linked to the observation of nature, the evolution of the seasons, the colours of the sky, the colours of the leaves, the gestures of people. Alinari's paintings can be appreciated and shared or upset the observer, but they certainly do not leave him indifferent, they attract the eye and involve man's most intimate nature. Luca Alinari died in Florence on 15 March 2019.
