Item description
Pair of Vertebra armchairs by Emilio Ambasz and Giancarlo Piretti for OpenArk/Anonima Castelli, 1970s. Thanks to a system of springs and counterweights, Vertebra was the first office chair that could automatically respond to the movements of its occupant, thus facilitating those who spend many hours sitting. For this reason it is considered one of the first work chairs inspired by the principles of ergonomics, and its very name was chosen to express the close relationship between the user's back and the movement of the chair. In response to the occupant's movement, the seat and back automatically reposition, eliminating the need for manual adjustments.
