Item description

Two-and-a-half-drawer chest of drawers with a structure panelled in exotic woods and inlaid with precious woods surmounted by a marble top of the same period. The front is marked by two large drawers and a smaller one, arranged in three tracks, both graphically underlined by two rounds of threading. A beautiful inlaid reserve frames the two large drawers with a beautiful medallion in the centre depicting architecture in perspective surrounded by two gallant scenes with ladies. The band under the top is enriched by a dense inlay with a motif of racemes and flowers. Laterally, it shows the same layout as the front with scenes with knights and ladies in the centre. Typical cabriole feet are embellished with expertly chiselled gilded bronze socks. Restored by our master craftsmen handmade shellac and alcohol. Provenance France, 19th century.
