Alabaster sculpture depicting a reproduction of Michelangelo's David, coming from Florence and made in the 19th century.
The young man presents a proud posture focused on the accomplishment of the warlike gesture against the giant Goliath; he is in fact in a standing position, thus standing and still. His head is turned to the left and David seems to be gazing intently at a distant point; his facial expression is intense and shows extreme concentration, aimed at the giant Goliath before the clash. The appearance is that of a classical hero and as such he is sculpted naked and muscular.
David, with his proud attitude, soon became the symbol of Florence; in fact, his heroic behavior represented well the intention of the Florentine people to fight against all tyranny.
