The Spanish lighting manufacturer Phase was founded in Madrid in 1964 by industrial designer Pedro Martín. The first Phase designs are considered modern and revolutionary, they are characterized by original combinations of metals, such as chrome and steel, with marble and wood in different bright colours. The lamps are often adjustable thanks to a sophisticated system of movable joints invented by the first Phase designers, which will soon become one of the company's trademarks, together with their glass diffusers. Notable Phase designs include Boomerang 64, Boomerang 2000, all designed in the 1960s.
