Large mid-18th-century altarpiece depicting Madonna and the seven founders of the Order of Servants of Mary. Oil painting on canvas depicting Madonna as she hands the habit to the seven founders of the Order. Around 1233 seven Florentine laymen left their home to form a religious order devoted to missionary activity with the patroness Our Lady of Sorrows. Painting of excellent pictorial quality; note the realization of the faces and drapery as well as the details of the sky and clouds with a reference to the colors of the Emilian school. Painting of considerable size, for antiquarians and collectors. Work that has been restretched and undergone restoration with replacement of the frame and resumption of color in some small places; overall in good state of preservation.
