Blue opaline glass vase mod. 706.22 by Paolo Venini for Venini, 2000. Designed by Paolo Venini in 1932. It is signed in engraving on the base and dated 2000. It is distinguished by its deep blue color known as Sapphire. The shape enhances the craftsmanship of the material from one of the most illustrious glass furnaces. It is intact and without breakage; it has a defect at the base, visible in the photo, which all specimens of this vase possess and which is due to the workmanship of the material. The elegance of opaline glass comes from the superimposition of colored glass with milky glass, a complex process that originated in the 15th century to imitate ceramics. Paolo Venini founded Cappellini Venini in 1921 with antiquarian Giacomo Cappellini; over the years the firm underwent mutations and changes of ownership until it came to us as Venini. It is one of the largest glassworks recognized in the world and boasts collaborations with great designers. Venini glassware is a collector's item all over the world given its great value, which is bound to increase over time.
