Item description
Onda ashtray designed by Sergio Asti for Arnolfo di Cambio glassworks, 1970s. The Onda series, which includes the ashtray and objects such as vases, ice cube holders and others, was designed in the early 1970s. It is made of polished Alexandrite, a special kind of glass with a typical violet color. It is in very good preserved condition, has some very slight marks on the inner edge due to age and use. Sergio Asti was a Milanese architect and designer who did collaborations with some of the biggest firms of the time and received numerous awards including the Compasso D'Oro. Vetreria Arnolfo di Cambio was founded in Siena in 1963; since then it has combined the design of great Italian architects with the expertise of Tuscan master glassmakers in Colle Val D'Elsa.
