Antique Italian painting from the first half of the 18th century. Oil-on-canvas work depicting a splendid genre scene: a snowy landscape with farrier's forge, of excellent painterly hand. Genre painting means the depiction of events drawn from everyday life, such as markets and domestic interiors, or people at work, just as in this case. Painting that unfolds horizontally with numerous characters huddling under the branches of an immense snowy tree masterfully painted. Notice how the artist managed to characterize each individual moving figure with minute details of clothing and work tools. Especially the naturalistic elements such as snow, fire and the resulting chiaroscuro effects denote an absolute mastery of painting technique. Large-scale painting adorned with scenic 20th century frame, carved and gilded, of beautiful decoration. Work that has undergone restoration with frame replacement and color restoration in places and has been restretched (see photo). Overall in excellent state of preservation.
