Pair of Arcona armchairs by Otto Zapf for Art Collection, 1980s. They are in very good condition. The thick black leather shows only minimal signs of wear. The back and seat cushions, as well as the leather covering of the armrests, are fixed with a zip system and can be easily removed. The armchairs offer first-class seating comfort. The cubist lines of these armchairs are absolutely timeless. Seat height: 41 cm. Seat depth: 54 cm.
Otto Zapf founded the company Vitsoe+Zapf together with Niels Vitsoe in 1958 and collaborated with Dieter Rams. In 1969 Zapf left the joint company and in 1986 designed the Arcona line for Art Collection. Zapf worked as a designer for Knoll, Art Collection, B&B Italia, etc. Art Collection was founded in Aahlen in 1946 and in the renamed Dreipunkt in the 1960s. From 1976 the furniture was again offered in the Art Collection with projects by first-rate designers.
