Item description

Eight Cesca chairs, most of them in black lacquer, from the 1960s-1970s, from Italy. The Cesca chair, a globally recognised design by Marcel Breuer from the late 1920s, is still produced today. In the course of time there have been many manufacturers of these chairs. And there are many unlicensed copies nowadays, the difference being that they do not survive a decade, let alone half a century. The set presented is from northern Italy and is most likely from Gavina. Gavina was bought by Knoll in 1968 and, based on use and patina, the chairs date from that period. One chair bears the inscription 'Made in Italy' in relief, while the others do not. Although there are slight differences between the chairs, they all belong to the same period or are very close to it. The chairs are in original condition and have a beautiful dark honey-coloured bowing that has been professionally cleaned and preserved. The frames are traditionally made of beech. Our team thoroughly inspected the chairs and confirmed their stability and full functionality. The chrome frames show slight discolouration, but no corrosion. Some chairs are a little more bent back (this often happens to chairs that have been used more, when the previous owner was a large person). However, this happens after decades and is a very slight disproportion. Our aim is to restore the furniture to its best condition, considering its age of 60 years. Customers all over the world have already trusted our work and its fruits. If you are not an expert on vintage furniture, please contact us for explanations and close-ups of the piece. The chairs are in fantastic vintage condition with slight signs of age, such as light scratches on the black lacquer, which do not spoil the aesthetics. They are an excellent embellishment for any interior.
