Item description

Italian school oil painting on canvas from the mid-18th century. Painting depicting a beautiful Madonna and Child and young St. John, of excellent painterly hand. The protagonists are depicted in a real perspective space, with fine curtains in the background and a landscape opening to the right. St. John enters the scene with his typical iconographic elements, his camel-skin robe and a beautiful lamb, a symbol of Christ's sacrifice; on this particular occasion he brings fruit as a gift. Antique ebonized and gilded wood frame of beautiful decoration, with some signs of time. Painting that has been restretched and has undergone restoration with frame replacement and color restoration in some small places, overall in good state of preservation. Size without frame: 78 x 61 cm.
