We recommend you read the entire description, as we try to provide you with detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. The elegant and characteristic Italian Art Deco coffee table is made of light walnut wood; the smooth top is lightened by a transparent glass that allows us to appreciate the entire refined structure of the coffee table; exceptional is the graceful and harmonious design of the legs that are joined by a grid-worked upper top underneath; a streamlined, pleasant and sophisticated aesthetic ensemble. The coffee table was handcrafted in light walnut wood in Lombardy (Italy) between 1950 and 1955 in the style of Paolo Buffa. We know for a fact that the famous architect Buffa used Lombard cabinet-makers of recognised skill in the construction of his furniture, who used very refined materials also because the objects were mainly intended for the flats of the wealthy Milanese bourgeoisie; our coffee table, with its characteristics of quality, accuracy and finish, was almost certainly made by one of these master craftsmen. Paolo Buffa (1903-1970) was an Italian architect and designer known for his mid-century furniture designs. Characterised by a fusion of tradition and modernity, he used a combination of low-profile shapes and straight curves in fine woods to produce his most classic pieces. Paolo Buffa began working in Gio Ponti's studio and later, as early as 1928, as indicated by period documentation, in close collaboration with architect A. Cassi Ramelli. He mainly devoted himself to designing furniture, continually proposing new models. More than a forerunner, he was a faithful spokesman of the taste of his time: first neoclassical and then 20th century. Paolo Buffa was highly regarded internationally for his refined design and rigorous execution, demonstrating an all-Italian competence. Before his death in 1970 in Milan, Buffa had been named one of the country's leading designers. The object has been hand-treated with ancient restoration techniques by our team of craftsmen and is in excellent condition. Measures diameter 75 cm, height 50 cm.
