Oil painting on cardboard by Gino Borsato (Treviso, 5 February 1905 – Treviso, 30 July 1971) depicting a portrait, 1927. Dated and signed. Size of the painting alone (excluding frame): 43 x 28 cm. Borsato attended the artistic high school in Venice and, after completing his high school studies, he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, having Ettore Tito as his figure teacher for the first three years. In 1925, following the victory in a competition, he created the altarpiece of San Cristoforo for the Church of San Cristoforo in Tonezza del Cimone. Due to health problems, the painter Antonio Beni entrusted him with the completion of the altarpieces, already approved in sketch form by the Sacred Art Commission, for the churches of the diocese of Treviso damaged by the First World War. He very early began to have commissions for altarpieces and portraits. He painted, winning a competition, the altarpiece of San Cristoforo for the church of Tonezza del Cimone (VI); he was only 21 years old. He worked a lot, always with tranquility and enthusiasm. His religious works are scattered in the main churches of the Veneto and in particular of the province of Treviso; his portraits and landscapes appear in many Italian and foreign collections.
