Engraving depicting Camilla, heroine of the Aeneid, disarmed by Cupid, 1805. Etching and dotted style printed on laid paper with sanguine ink. The engraver is Francesco Bartolozzi, born in Florence in 1727, died in Lisbon in 1815, among the most famous and appreciated Italian engravers; he successfully interpreted the various carving methods: etching, burin, dotted manner. Wagner's pupil in Venice, he then moved to London where he found international success and became the owner of his own workshop. Subject of invention by the engraver himself.
