Lombard school oil painting on canvas from the second half of the 17th century depicting Christ and the Samaritan woman at the well. Jesus is on a journey and decides to stop by a well. A Samaritan woman approaches him and he asks her for a drink. To the Jews, the Samaritans were unclean and so they avoided them and did not speak to them. Jesus is unconcerned about this tradition, and the woman reacts with amazement. Painting of remarkable pictorial quality, found particularly in the execution of the drapery of the garments. Monumental-sized painting with life-size figures, suitable for a large reception hall or private chapel. Stunning antique coeval frame in carved, painted and gilded wood, with some signs of time. Work that has been restretched and has undergone restoration with frame replacement and color repainting in places. Overall in good state of preservation. Size without frame: 189 x 130 cm.
