Sergio Scatizzi, glimpse of Lucca, oil painting on panel, 1945
Oil painting on panel by Sergio Scatizzi (Gragnano, 20 October 1918 – Florence, 1 December 2009) depicting a glimpse of the city of Lucca, dated 1945. Original work, certificate of authenticity issued. Size of the panel only (excluding frame): 31 x 31 cm. Gilded pastiglia frame from the late 19th century. After the armistice, in 1943, Scatizzi returned to Montecatini where he spent a fruitful artistic season, exhibiting in various group exhibitions of Pistoia painters, including Alfiero Cappellini, Pietro Bugiani, Giulio Innocenti and Remo Gordigiani. In this period he preferred to paint small panels with city views, especially of Lucca, Montecatini and Pisa; the latter, however, are largely dispersed and unobtainable.
