Terracotta vase by Nicolaj Diulgheroff for M.G.A., 1950s
Majolica and decorated terracotta small vase by Nicolaj Diulgheroff for M.G.A. (Mazzotti Giuseppe Albisola), mid-20th century. Nicolaj Diulgheroff (1901-1982) was a Bulgarian artist, architect and designer, active mainly in Italy. He studied in Vienna and at the Bauhaus before moving to Turin in 1926, where he joined the Italian Futurists. Diulgheroff was known for his works of painting, ceramics and graphics, characterized by dynamic shapes and bright colors. He remained in Turin for 56 years, contributing significantly to the futurist movement. He died in 1982 and is remembered as one of the greatest artists of the interwar era. The vase has a repair on one of the sides visible in the photos.
